2012-05-15Bachelor of Arts

I am a recent graduate at University of Pittsburgh with a double major in Environmental Sciences and Anthropology. I am particularly interested in securing a job in Environmental Sciences where I could use my knowledge of environmental policy and my undergraduate course work The following highlights my professional and academic background that appears to be in keeping with your position requirements: • I am project focused and have a track record for completing tasks on time. I am highly organized and skilled at juggling multiple priorities simultaneously. • On my own initiative, I sourced 35 potential funding sources during my internship with Energy Coordinating Agency last summer, wrote the grant proposals and coordinated the submission process. This marked the largest scale effort of its kind for this organization. • As an offshoot of a college project, I was successful in demonstrating the economic and environmental benefit of installing dual flush toilets in the main library on Pitt’s campus. The Administration is actively considering implementing this recommendation. • I relied on my organization and planning skills to coordinate a conference featuring 35 speakers and >150 attendees. Separately, I managed the promotion and on-campus publicity for an event called Earth Hour during which the lighting was dimmed at all Pitt facilities. • Tripled the number of recruited mentors at the non-profit Keep it Real, which pairs student mentors with primarily Somali refugees.

I have always worked in the service industry and am also learning how to garden in my back yard, these things along with my degree make me a versatile candidate. I think Ideally i would like to work with food, or put my fashion design skills to use in some type of up-cycling or art instruction capacity. Anything involving children would also be ideal as that is my course of study. However I am also open to any opportunities available and am happy and willing to learn.

2012-04-12MLS (Masters in Library Service)

My first choice would be to find new job that allows me to combine my professional talents and qualifications with my interest in food but I am definitely willing to discuss other options. I am looking for permanent work in the Philadelphia metro area or a telecommute position. I have an MLS (Masters of Library Service) from Rutgers University and over 12 years of experience working with taxonomies, metadata, thesauri, controlled vocabularies and classification. For the last 11 years, I have been been employed at Towers Watson, formerly Towers Perrin. For the last 6 years I have served as the manager of the Intellectual Capital/Content Management Processes Team. Our team is responsible for interfacing with internal clients representative of the different lines of business, brokering a common taxonomy and providing tagging guidance to content managers for each of the firm's websites. I have experience in project management, successfully leading projects related to the document management system, intellectual capital database, thesaurus and search. I am the product manager for Towers Watson's Documentum content management and document management systems with responsibilities including including managing the enterprise object model/taxonomy which includes more than 25 facets and is used across the firm's internal and external sites. My responsibilities relating to the document management systems include release planning, writing specs, issue tracking, working with developers, coordinating quality assurance for both content and technology, writing help file and training scripts, training users and communication with stakeholders. Most recently, I managed the conversion of our internal intellectual capital database from our Documentum document management system to Sharepoint document libraries. Outside of work, I am very involved in the local food movement. For the last three years, I have served on the board of directors for Creekside Coop, a start up member owned grocery store. I am currently the chair of the membership committee for Creekside as well as a member of the product selection committee. I write for the Creekside Blog, represent the Coop at the many community and food related events that I attend and occasionally lead educational activities. I have also served as a volunteer for Pennypack Farms and Education Center in Horsham, Hazon CSA at Kol Ami in Elkins Park, and the Creekside Farmers Market. I have always been passionate about food and in my free time, I spend my time cooking, growing and reading about food. Thank you for your consideration.

I am an excellent writer, excellent public speaker, am highly efficient, work exceptionally well with children, worked in social services and professional fundraising, and co-owned and managed a retail food establishment which I set up "from scratch" without prior business experience or education. Considering how poorly most parents deal with their children, I would really like to help and advise parents as to how to handle their children positively and effectively, and without violence of any kind (hitting, etc.)
